Wedding Photography: Why Two Photographers Are Better Than One
One of our most asked questions when clients are selecting their wedding photography package is “Do I need the second photographer? What are the benefits of having two?” While it will be an added cost, you are sure to not regret it! Here are four main benefits to think about as to why you may want to consider having two there to capture your special day.
If you have a large wedding party or family, you may want to consider having two photographers. It can be tough and time consuming to wrangle everyone together for bridal party and family portraits. While one is shooting, the other can be gathering everyone to get ready for portraits. The quicker the portraits, the more coverage you’ll receive of the actual reception! Also because there is two, you will get far more photos than you would with one, with no moments missed since they can divide and conquer.
Two people photographing your wedding simultaneously will allow for more angles. We coordinate so that we are photographing an alternative angle of all the big moments throughout your day. If one of us is shooting close-ups, the other will shoot wide angles. If one of us is at the bottom of the aisle photographing the bride walking down, the other is at the top of the aisle capturing the back of her dress and full wide-angle shot of the ceremony and church or venue.
A big benefit of having two photographers is that it will allow coverage for different parts of your wedding that may be happening at the same time. This will allow for one photographer to be with the bride while getting she’s ready, and the second photographing the groom getting ready. Additionally, If one is photographing the cake cutting, the other will be photographing dancing and party candids.
Last but not certainly not least, having a second photographer there allows for one of us to solely focus on you all throughout the day while the other is capturing all the details (and there’s a lot!), leaving no photo un-snapped or detail missed! While one of us is photographing you throwing the bouquet, the other is photographing your parents reaction. Or while one is photographing speeches, the other is photographing your reactions. If your venue is large or you’re having over 120 guests, a second photographer is a huge benefit as they can cover each side of the room.
