Our Guide to Wedding Day Gifts For Your Significant Other

Exchanging gifts with one another on your wedding day is long-standing tradition, but not everyone feels it’s necessary. There are many costs associated with planning your wedding day, so you may not choose to exchange gifts with your soon-to-be spouse. For others, this is a meaningful way to gift each other something sentimental and memorable on the morning of, before saying “I do!”.

After having photographed weddings for over a decade now, I have seen so many special and unique gifts exchanged amongst couples. We’ve compiled a list ranging from some of our low-budget to splurgy ideas!

Jewelry

Whether it be a watch, cufflinks, earrings, a bracelet or special pin- jewelry is a great gift idea that could be gifted to be worn on your wedding day, and can be a keepsake and heirloom.

Perfume & Cologne

Perfume or cologne to be worn on your wedding day is a great gift. Take it a step further by having the bottle engraved with your initials, wedding date, date you met or any other special touch that is meaningful to you both.

Art, Painting or Photograph

Maybe it’s a beloved framed photo of the two of you, a painting special to your heart, or just something simply to be hung in your home together. This unique gift idea can be a thoughtful way to show your love!

A Heartfelt Letter, Poem or Song

Taking the time to write your feelings into a song, poem or personal letter is a very beautiful and touching way to express your love and show how much you care. You can play your song at your wedding, or save it to share privately amongst the two of you.

Something for Your Honeymoon

This is a great way to contribute to the excitement already built up for your honeymoon! Perhaps it is a spa treatment there, or a camera to document your trip and have as you build your life together. Consider gifting your fiancé something special for your trip!

A Camera

Like I mentioned above a camera is a great gift to be used for your honeymoon! A camera is no small expense however, so maybe you decide together that you want to invest in a camera to capture all you are about to embark on together. You can purchase it together rather than as a surprise- which is still a wonderful gift, and you have the memory of purchasing it together as your wedding day is approaching!

A Box of Their Favorite Things

Whether it be their favorite candy, snacks, flowers, etc.- consider putting together a box or basket of their favorite things. It shows an abundance of thoughtfulness, and you can add as little or as much as you want.

A Sentimental Book

If your fiancé is an avid reader or perhaps you have a book meaningful to you both, consider gifting this. Maybe it’s a special limited edition copy, or simply has its own sentiment to each of you.

A Scrapbook

Taking the time to make a scrapbook is no small task! You can include concert tickets you’ve saved, photos, notes you’ve saved from one another and any other special momentos. Though time consuming, this is incredibly thoughtful and will be cherished amongst you both.

A Spa Treatment

Whether it be a relaxing facial, massage, or any other spa treatment- this is a great gift for both men and women. You can schedule this in the days leading up to the wedding, or to be enjoyed on your honeymoon.

The most important factor in deciding on a gift for your fiancé, is to make sure it is thoughtful and meaningful. You can exchange gifts the night before, the morning of, or whenever you feel it is most appropriate based off of the gift you are giving. Alternatively, you can have them dropped off, or have your maid of honor or best man do the exchange for you. You may also choose to exchange them on your wedding night. Do what you feels right, and keep the focus on your love for each other and the true meaning of your special day!
