Getting Ready for Your Wedding Day: Preparing Your Flat Lay Photo Details

There’s a lot of “To-Do’s” in the days leading up to your wedding, and it can be challenging to remember it all and get it done in time for your big day. Some of the most important details that go into your photos and wedding day can be easily missed, if not thought about and prepared in advance. From wedding invitations to shoes that might have you thinking “These are too pretty to wear!”, we’ve got you covered with all the essential details for your flat lay photos. These details, and photos, are integral in helping give the look and feel of your day. When designing wedding albums, these flat-lay detail photos are always what we like to start the album with to set the tone.

And pro tip: put them all in a box together to keep them contained so you can easily hand them over to your photographer without anything getting ruined, misplaced, or forgotten!

Rings

You’ll want to bring all three rings: your engagement ring and the two wedding bands. Don’t forget the ring box too!

Your Invitation Suite

A wedding invitation suite consists of all paper goods sent along with the wedding invitation. Bring them all so they can be layered and included in your detail photos to create depth and interest. You can also include your ceremony program or reception menu.

Shoes

Photographing each of your wedding shoes before being worn is a great way to add an artistic and beautiful touch to your wedding photos. It’s likely you will only wear them this once, and they can be a wonderful memory of your wedding day!

Jewelry, Hairpiece, Watch & Cufflinks

Just as beautiful and interesting as your shoes, these pieces add a special touch to your photos and are an important accent to your dress and tux! These pieces may be heirlooms or sentimental, which makes them all the more special to include.

Perfume & Cologne Bottle

Including your perfume in your detail photos is another way to add in both a personal and special touch, and capture the essence of your wedding day. Make sure though that the bottle works well with the rest of your accessories you’re photographing it with, creating a unified look and feel.

Vow Books

These are such a sweet and pure addition to include if you are writing your own vows and reading them to one another.

Your Bouquet & Boutonnière

If you don’t have your bouquet where you will be getting ready, include some florals that match your wedding day colors, look and feel. They will add such elegance and interest to your detail photos.

Heirloom Items

This is a special one. If you have any heirloom items such as pins on your bouquet from a loved one who has passed, jewelry, a book or anything special- we urge you to include! You will be happy you did, and this adds both a personalized and memorable touch.
