First Holy Communion Photography | Westport, CT

On May 2nd, 2015, I photographed the adorable 7-year-old, Sadie and her First Holy Communion. We started at their home for outdoor communion portraits and family portraits to capture this monumental occasion in her life. Afterwards we headed to Assumption Church in Westport on the Saugatuck River for the service. What a beautiful, historic church - over 139 years old! We had gorgeous weather, however we were fighting harsh light outdoors, but we were able to find vibrant, shady locations for the portraits.

Sadie's mother wanted to be sure to get their traditional family photos after the ceremony, so we crossed the street to take photos in a large field in front of the river. I carried two camera bodies (Nikon D800e and D7000) that day with my Holdfast Money Maker my husband got me for Christmas with the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom lens on one and the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 on the other for wide angle shots and group shots. I also switched to the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 to capture the wide angle shots of the interior of the church before the ceremony.

I hope you enjoy these select shots from the event starting with Grandma's gifts for Sadie - her first rosary beads and beautiful birthstone ring, then ending with the family portraits in front of Saugatuck River in Westport. God bless!
